Audrey Tautou
Audrey Tautou, the oldest of four siblings was born on 8 August 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de-Domme. She was encouraged by her parents, a dentist and a teacher who were both teachers to follow her love of theatre. This contrasted to an earlier desire to be a primatologist due to the fact that she loved monkeys. When she was a teenager, her rise to stardom was rapid and marked with early success. Before she began to pursue the acting profession, she participated in Jeunes Premiers an French show on TV that focuses on talent which was a part of Canal+ in 1998. She also won The award for the Best Young Actress for her performance in the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. Tautou went to church and Institut Catholique de Paris during her youth, however she is now separating herself from her childhood. Neben her acting, Tautou took up modeling and was the spokesperson in the advertising campaign for L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. A keen photographer, she has recently exhibited in The Arles International Festival that was titled Superficial. She focuses her photography on celebrity, fame and the press that scrutinised her following her fame-making debut in the film Amelie. Also, she has a number of photographs featuring her self. Audrey Tautou's global recognition and popularity exploded after her performance as Amelie Poulain's leading woman in Le Fabuleux d'Amelie Poulain. Amelie gained international attention for its box office success. The film was also recognized at awards ceremonies across the world. The film is still the top grossing French film of the French language on the market in US. In the wake of this achievement, Tautou was featured in many movies ranging from British dramatics like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche de fiancailles, and then he moved into Hollywood under the direction of Ron Howard of the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code together with Tom Hanks.
