Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American dancer, actress and performer since the beginning of the 1990s. She started her Broadway career performing in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Hair. She was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in the Play to play Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with directors and actors in stage and on screen throughout the entirety of her professional career. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford's current film includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. This film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford will return to Broadway in the month of March 2023 with the role of Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production will be held in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the production. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters in the first impeachment proceeding in America in over a century. Two seasons ago, Ashford was the main character of the hit show on CBS called B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway won both Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role as Essie. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde are just a few of her Broadway performances. Ashford is a Denver origins native, and now splits her time in Los Angeles.
